Sounds of Aronofsky supercut.
A fire will rise. And many movie tickets will be sold.
Cause-marketing is under-fire in this new documentary, which takes a closer look at what exactly our “pink ribbons” are tied to. (Hint: It’ll piss you off.)
“Some men just want to watch the world burn.”
The more I see of Prometheus, the more I’m convinced it might be Ridley Scott’s best film since the 80’s. The music, the acting, the visuals and the special effects all look outstanding. The dude is clearly a master of sci-fi like no other.
Movie Trailer: Lawless
I’ve been waiting for this flick to come out for a while now. In part because of Tom Hardy, who can do no wrong in my book, but mainly because it’s the next film from the director of The Proposition and The Road. John Hillcoat has made a habit out of turning out suspenseful, gritty and beautifully-violent images and this movie looks to be no different. Plus, it features Shia Labeouf finally back in a dramatic role worthy of his talents, Gary Oldman looking menacing as usual, and it’s based on a true story from the prohibition era – something we don’t see often enough. What more could you ask for?
Movie posters from unseen angles. Interesting concept but kinda pointless, eh?
UPDATE: So I guess I missed the fact that these are actually ads for a surround sound product. (link) Not so pointless anymore.
Man, this is how all movies should be marketed. Not with trailer and trailer which give away all the juicy bits of the film, but with mini bursts of additional content that build and enhance the story before it’s even told. Short films that support a feature, really. But what’s really brilliant about this piece specifically is the fact that it’s an ad for a film, in the form of an ad that exists in said film’s universe. Smart.
Anyways, this viral clip is brilliantly shot and directed, with Fassbender giving an awesomely creepy and nuanced performance in just a matter of minutes. I love the way it depicts the process an android “waking up”, and I’m betting you don’t get any of that detail from the actual film. Prometheus is definitely climbing up on my most anticipated film list.
